For this years United Nation’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women we are remembering all those affected by domestic and sexual violence and abuse by holding a virtual Candle Lit Vigil.

With increased violence against women now being dubbed a ‘Shadow Pandemic’ by the UN (see link), it is important we work harder than ever to fight gender based abuse.

We are starting today by sharing these pictures of two brave survivors recently supported by Next Link, the 2 candles honouring the 2 women killed a week.

Over the next 16 days, we will also share photos from our partners, who stand in solidarity with Next Link and Safe Link to say violence against women and girls must stop!

‘The women who work here are an inspiration, going above and beyond to help these people who are in need of support. The services offered are invaluable and it’s a pleasure to volunteer my time with them. 😊’

Seeing how hard the staff have been working during the Covid-19 lockdown truly inspires me!’

Candy loves travelling, reading and spending time with her cats and dogs when not in the lab 🐶 🐱

She said
‘Volunteering has made me aware that people from all backgrounds can have the same struggles. The most important thing is that realisation help is always just around the corner, and being a volunteer means I can make myself useful where it is most needed. Seeing how hard the staff have been working during the Covid-19 lockdown truly inspires me!’

Thanks Candy for all you do! 🌻

Happy Volunteers Week! We want to say an enormous THANK-YOU for all you do. Time is precious and so the fact you give yours freely for the organisation is so appreciated. Volunteering gives us another dimension and adds to experience for those we support, so we are super lucky to have such wonderful volunteers.

A huge thank you to the incredible Bristol Sweet Mart on St. Mark’s Road in Easton who donated meals, samosas and fruit to our residents to celebrate Eid.

2020-06-08T16:06:43+01:00

These were given out to everyone, not just our residents of Muslim faith, so the true community spirit of Eid could be shared by all.

We would like to say a huge thank you to the Sweet Mart and our volunteers who helped pack the food.

Some Feedback:

‘Thanks for the lovely food, it smells delicious! I will enjoy this after Eid when I break my fast, it’s really kind- thank you!’

We’re celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week – this year’s theme is kindness

2020-05-28T14:30:35+01:00

Mental Health Awareness Week aims to get people talking about their mental health and reduce the stigma that can stop people from asking for help.

Evidence suggests there are 5 steps you can take to improve your mental health and wellbeing. Trying these things could help you feel more positive and able to get the most out of life.

The Five Ways to Wellbeing are to:

  • Connect – connecting with others
  • Give – giving – looking outward as well as inward
  • Be active – doing something active
  • Take Notice – taking notice of the world around you
  • Keep Learning – learning new things
