We can talk to you about your situation in confidence. If you need space and time to think we can provide you with safe housing and support while you decide what you want to do.

We can provide support while you are still in an abusive situation.

We can provide emotional and practical support for you and your children to help you recover and move on to independent accommodation free from violence and abuse.

In addition to having your own support worker, you can also access:

  • Counselling
  • Support for your children including therapy
  • Specialist LGBTQ+ support
  • Specialist black and minority ethnic support
  • Support with Honour Based abuse and Forced Marriage
  • Specialist Deaf support

What is it like living in a safe house?

  • The house has a secret location.
  • The house is clean and well equipped.
  • You have a key to your own room and the front door.
  • You cook your own food.
  • There is play equipment and support for children.
  • There will be support for you from a key worker.

What will my support look like?

  • You have your own privacy.
  • There will be other people in similar circumstances to whom you can talk.
  • You can get help with housing, finances, legal support, mental and physical health, substance misuse, education, employment and parenting.

We have dedicated houses for women and children, women from global majority communities, single women, 24-hours support for women with complex needs, male safe houses and a block of self-contained units.

  • At night there will be an answerphone but don’t worry, you can still speak to someone who can help you
  • You can contact the police and they will help you
  • If you need medical attention call 999 or go to hospital

If possible:

  • Take your own front door key with you
  • Bring clothing for you and your children
  • Please bring proof of income and identity with you
  • Keep our telephone number in a safe place.
